The airport was fine on arrival - easy to exit, to find hire cars etc and to get out on to main roads. Long wait (more than I hour) for a prepaid pre-booked hire car was a little annoying though.
On departure, check in was good - it was open earlier than two hours before the flight. However, on going through to the departure lounges there were no screens to give any indication of the status of flights other than those that were boarding at that moment. Also the problem with the boarding of one outgoing flight caused unnecessary delay to ours despite the fact that there were spare boarding gates and our flight had landed early according to our pilot once we finally boarded. Nor was there any announcement about our flight so we were left wondering. Another poor design airport wise was that there was nowhere to buy water in the departure lounge - duty free alcohol shop only and Evian vending machines "en panne" and since we could not take liquids through, it was a thirsty wait.
We would drive all the way next time (channel tunnel plus own car) for comfort and being in control of our own timetable so to speak. This is not because of any particular faults of Grenoble Airport but just a general disillusionment now with air travel and the inevitable waits at either end and inconvenient fly times at both ends of the hols.
